Girlalu

"My Girl" premiered a few hours ago on ABS-CBN. I'm not really big on the Koreanovelas the station has been acquiring. In the first place, I don't consider myself a Kapamilya (because being Kapuso transcends being Kapamilya or Kabarkada. May ganyon?!) However, generalization is a deadly sin.

I must admit, "My Girl", especially Lee Da Hae's comic antics, elicited resounding guffaws (OA?) from me and my sister (We're so mababaw.) The first time I've seen Lee Da Hae she played a bitter ex-grlfriend in "Sweet 18". But, enough about her. I'm here to talk about Lee Dong Wook. :D

Sheeet! Isn't he so gorgeous? I mean, the man's got a facial structure that is to die for. God, I'm such a sucker for prominent cheekbones and strong, square jawlines. His eyes also are just of the right shape, not too chinky. His nose, his lips, his teeth; the list goes on. Sigh. At certain angles, one may even mistake him for Jo/Zo In Sung ("Memories of Bali", "Spring Days").

Main cast of "My Girl"

From left to right: Lee Dong Wook (the eyeglasses don't give my description justice; nonetheless, the hot-nerd look is still, er, hot), Lee Da Hae, an actor (no, not "actress", people don't use that anymore) I don't care about, and Lee Jun Ki.

Trivia: Lee Jun Ki played the crossdressing gay court jester (oh, what a pretty lady he would be) in The King and Clown (2005), which currently holds the South Korean box office record of being the highest grossing film of all time. Also, Jazel fancies him so much. Haha.

The King and the Clown

Speaking of gays, I watched Vicky Morales' "I-Witness" documentary "Dalaginding". I can help but cry in joy that the dalagindings featured have open-minded parents, families, and friends to accept them. But of course, there are still bigots in this world I am more than willing to, um... pray for?

Goin' Nuts

Over Go Nuts (because I'd pick Go Nuts over Cello's on any day). Waah!

Images stolen from the Go Nuts Donuts website.
Check out the Fun Page; I got my current wallpaper from there.

My heart. Dark and punctured.

Is that sh*t oozing out?

Chicken burger patty with barbeque sauce.

I ran out of captions.

You do realize I'm subjecting myself to torture here? I'm about to break into tears and sob like Bonjing (Whoever alludes to Bonjing these days, aside from me?) Match that picture with drool flowing from both the corners of my mouth.

I wonder if the newly opened SM Clark (only twenty minutes from our house) has a Go Nuts Donuts branch inside it. A visit to the local SM is not worth the hassle of unsticking my butt from the ergonomic chair. So I just resign to wondering if the newly opened SM Clark only twenty minutes away from our house has a Go Nuts Donuts branch inside it and un-unsticking my butt from the ergonomic chair.

Life is so simple. Sans going back to UP and straightening the mess that is my academic life. Which forces me to withdraw my previous conclusion about life.

Life is so not simple.

Bored Pa Rin

I've been blog-hopping and -searching lately, that is, more intensively than I usually do. You can't blame me; I'm super bored out of my skull. How about diverting my energy on "more productive" activities? I do what I want to do; that's that.

People are updating less and less frequently, and the stalker, he needs to find new objects to satisfy his voyeuristic urges. All his new victims are studying in or have graduated from UP. Why? He needs to establish at least one point of relation, something which will fuel the interest in reading. That plus the UP complex.

If only the amount of time I spent on reading senseless rants by self-absorbed strangers I spent on reading decent literature or some other academic stuff, I could already brag of being widely read (cultured affax, because I'm a condescending, pretentious a** like that).

Anyway, I came across (and bookmarked) blogs of some CE alumni who graduated at least year ago, even that of this alumna who, on the day of my formal interview (I was an app then), said harsh side comments I cried. I hold no grudge though. Maybe she was just having the PMS of her life. Or she's really just a total b*tch.

Moving on, I also found the Dilbert-loving, and, let's not forget, vertically challenged Sir Erik' blog (a good read, especially for those who've just started working in the corporate jungle).

Bum, Intrigero, Jologs

Other than me doing some of the household chores, nothing eventful (as if washing dishes or folding fresh laundry is) these past few days has happened in my inconsequential existence. I think this uneventfulness (is that a word?) will last until the vacation ends. It's neither that I'm complaining nor that you care; I'm just sharing.

Besides, there's a whole lot of drama out there to keep you preoccupied. You know what I'm talking about. There are at least four scoops; each one worthy to fill that notorious (thanks to me) blind item space in Ventures. Just don't expect me write here about any of them because they're too high school they make me barf my digestive organs out (and I thought I was gutless).

Another thing, I'm a changed man already. Okay, the previous sentence reeks of lies: that I'm changed and that I'm a man. Haha.

P.S. Sadness, "Jewel in the Palace" has only thirteen episodes left. I'll plummet to a pit of depression again. I'm addicted to "Majika" and the cast's silly, circus wardrobe. Lastly, I love "I Luv NY"! Marvin and Jolens forever!

Gendou

Gendou is anime music heaven! Nothing, not even my slow dial-up connection, did (and will) stop me from downloading all the anime soundtracks I want. Whee! Imagine, in Gendou I found even "Mystic Eyes", one of the ending themes to "Vision of Escaflowne". I doubt though that you can relate to this elation the otaku/audiophile me feels right now. Haha.

Some of my loot.

Right now I'm hooked on the "Bleach" opening and ending themes which collectively I like listening to more than those of "Naruto". But that doesn't put "Sadness and Sorrow" and "Harumonia" off my top favorites. "Nee kikoe masu ka?"

Such geekness. (/_~)

Pat and Kat?

FOPC Vinzons Tambay (stolen from Bikoy's post)

Look at those two in neon green circles. Are they Pat Coloma and Kat Solang of CE? That girl in pink between them, who is she?

Update: The scrawny girl in pink is Levs. :P

Holocaust

It's the rainy season and ants are supposed to be in their colonies feasting away on all the bits and pieces of food they've stockpiled during summer. Then why did I just see not one but three queues of red ants inside the house, two in the kitchen and one in the dining area lining up for the insignificant crumbs of the fried chicken served for lunch?

I wasn't able to help it but the sight of them just channeled the Hitler in me, eager to indulge in neat freakiness and relentless sadism.

The ants on the dining table met a fiery demise. Well, not really. In my first attempt, I lit one of those bulky, yellow candles and poured the melted wax on the ants. This proved to be inefficient since the wax didn't melt fast enough and after the first drip, which petrified only seven ants, the rest went berserk, escaping in all directions.

For half an hour, I waited before they realigned themselves. While waiting, I boiled water and in my second and successful attempt, I slid the piping hot kettle against the ant line before finally pouring the scalding water on the ants. (Yes, I went through such trouble.) You should've seen how they curled up the instant the heat shocked their frail, tiny, insect bodies. Nyahaha. >:)

The other ants welcomed a less dramatic death. Those on the kitchen sink I drowned in liquid soap and those around the garbage bin I sprayed with Baygon.

Oh, the massacre! What monstrosity! Poor creatures. I'm bored.

Run, Ivan, Run! (Away from It All)

The full-blast sound from my roomate's desktop speakers roused me. There went my peaceful afternoon nap. Inconsiderate maggot. Then I heard this squeaky, caricatured voice of a girl speaking in Nihonggo. No doubt the character was from an anime. She screamed, "Ichigo Kurosaki!" My jerk roommate was watching "Bleach".

I got up from the bed as I made clicking sounds with my tongue just so my roommate knew how irritated I was. My hair was messy and no amount of flattening from my hands could settle it so I decided to take a shower. Ah, simple and clean.

After dressing up and all, I went out for a walk. I walked. I walked some more. Aimlessly I walked and just guessed where my feet would bring me. Narra. Vinzons. BA. Econ. AC. IC. Law Lib. Stat. Ipil. Yakal. Molave. Bahay ng Alumni. FC. Theater. Tennis Court. Engg. Main Lib. AS. PHAN. Educ. Narra.

I walked and waited for my feet to hurt but they didn't. It was dark and cold and I was all alone. Nonetheless, a certain calm came over me.

Metaphors. A flower. Love. Stuff saps are made of.
Sasuke-kun!

I was browsing Naruto sites a few hours ago, catching up from the last episode and manga summaries I've read months ago. The anime is currently still airing filler episodes. However, the manga is already on its 306th chapter, a scanlation of which I downloaded out of having nothing else to do on the net.

After finishing the torrent, I extracted the rar file which was the whole Chapter 306. "Sheeet!" As if the poorly scanlated pages weren't disappointing enough, the text was translated into Spanish. La mierda. Instead of finding a better torrent to download (Hello? I'm on dial-up!), I just relied on the not-so-trusty Google Translate.

Here are some of the images (click to enlarge). Naruto and Sakura see Sasuke for the first time in two-and-a-half or so years.

Hyperbolic Discounting

Say what?

"More often than not, one must answer for all reckless consumption and merriment; yet most of us continue to make choices which are detrimental to our futures." - Allan Bellows for Damn Interesting

Click this link for the entire article.

Of course, reading the article would just be like "being aware of the consequences" which "doesn't [necessarily] mean that they are assigned the appropriate importance".
Frozen

All I've done this weekend is sleep, sleep, sleep. In fact, I've been sleeping so much I've neglected taking baths for two days. Eww. Haha. The chilly climate inhibits me from moving much, and on the bed, I just quiver the whole day like a piece of blob.

I finally hit the showers a while ago and the heated water was refreshing more than ever (especially after not bathing in forty-eight hours and grime and grease accumulated on my hair and face). When I got out the bathroom, as if the temperature wasn't freezing enough, I turned the aircon on to maximum. What a trip.

I can't wait for summer classes to end, but I'm not that eager for the new school year to start either. A lot of things have been depressing me lately, like extending another sem (or two, merciful heavens, forbid!) :(

I'm thinking of applying to this three-(half)day Australian Embassy stint my schoolmate from high school mentioned. I hope there are still vacant slots; I need to earn moolah. Wish me luck.

P.S. Dia, don't forget my ube sh*t in a garapon sh*t. Haha. Have a safe and happy trip. :)

Rainy Days and Mondays Always Get Me Down

It's official; the rainy season is here and what best way to start it than with a typhoon. Yet, my family and relatives welcome it unintentionally by going on a swimming outing. As usual, I chose to be left behind. I just told my mom to bring home some food for my late dinner.

What I like about this season are the gusts of wind forceful enough to invert the top an open umbrella or to topple down walking twigs like me. I remember flying Virge's kite on the rooftop of BA; it was my first time. I am looking forward to doing it again. Anyone? It's very liberating. Yucch, may ganyon?!

The other thing I love about this time of the year is the gray gloomy sky where daunting nimbus clouds permit only traces of sunshine. I hate sunshine. First, it is yellow, one of my least favorite colors. Second, it is too happy. I feed off misery as a dementor does. Joke.
SOS

I think I need help from the doctor. Yes, I am dying. :(

S-O-S please someone help me
It's not healthy for me to be this...

I just downloaded the complete "This Is Love" by Utada Hikaru. As always, I love it! Jazel, super thanks for the link. :)

Brown or Black?

Tongues of flame flickered. They consumed every ounce of oxygen the breeze carried while it blew through the dusty windows. The temperature rose to a certain degree I just felt the back of my shirt damp from the sweat it absorbed. Something wanted to take over me. I had to get out.

It was much cooler outside, but all I could see were abstractions. I had to take careful, little steps so as not to trip on something which was out of sight. In a matter of seconds the the pupils of my eyes dilated to adapt to the dark surroundings. Shapes began to form.

The moon, half as it was, radiated a weak glow just bright enough to cast my shadow against the white, towering wall I faced. The sky was purple and starless, and ocassionally, clouds smothered the moon, blocking the weak light that painted my silhouette.

I grew oblivious to the thing, which I wanted to run away from inside the house, until the mosquitoes concurred to make a feast out of my limbs. Right then and there the urge to scream, no, shriek like a banshee was too irresistible to satisfy.

FVCK THE LOCAL ELECTRIC COMPANY! FVCK! FVCK! FVCK!

But of course I didn't. It would have been scandalous and embarassing. So I just mumbled every cuss word I knew as I walked back inside the house.

Fvcking brownout.
